But even though the Major Change happened almost a hundred years ago, the inhabitants of Earth are still nursing its' jarring wounds. Because of the increasing gravity caused by the shift in ozone, the continents of the world have pulled together to form one land mass. The melting of the polar ice caps have resulted in the oceans increasing greatly, and now all that is left is a land mass a little bit bigger than Québec. Of the major races: Asian, European, North American, African, Natives of various continents, there are only about twenty of each race left. They now live in two cities and around in the sparse country around them, clumped together in a total head count of about 100 people. The two cities names are Kanmu and London. London named after the European city, and Kanmu named after the hopes of the inhabitants. The remaining countryside is harsh: sparse, dying woodland, a few hills and a long range of looming mountains. The inhabitants have renamed the newly formed continent Earth-Shima, and are commonly called as Shimians. Though most of the previous human discoveries were washed away with the rest of the world, Earth-Shima is quite advanced in technology, even father than Japan was around the time of the Major Change. Some of every Shimians daily tech pack includes a hoverboard to get around (there is a metal grid under both cities and a metal grid road leading to the two cities), an eyescreen (a type of supercomputer that is different to every person, appearing behind the iris so only you can see, but is much more advanced than a regular computer), a transparent, disarmed bubble that is activated by their eyescreen to protect from sudden Global Warming weather changes and more. |
